On March 7, 2024, Global Compact Chile and the Water Positive Think Tank organized a webinar titled ” Water Positive in the context of the Race towards Resilience.” The event focused on promoting progress towards SDG 6 and its connections with other SDGs, focusing on water resilience in the context of the Water Resilience Coalition.
One of the central points of the webinar was the discussion on Water Resilience in the context of the Water Resilience Coalition. This coalition, led by the CEO Water Mandate in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact and the Pacific Institute, aims to highlight the growing global water stress crisis and its relationship to climate change, positioning it among the priorities of the business agenda.
Additionally, details and concrete examples of the Water Positive Initiative were presented, which seeks to evaluate the environmental impact of water consumption in various industrial areas. This cannot be achieved by analyzing the direct or indirect water consumption of an entity without considering the product or service exchanged at the local, regional, or international level. This initiative promotes the use of new technologies, such as desalination and water reuse, to generate additional water sources safely and sustainably
During the event, speakers included Margarita Ducci, executive director of the Global Compact Chile Network; Camila Fernández, engagement leader for Latin America and the Caribbean from the High Level Champions team of the Conference of the Parties (COP); Alejandro Sturniolo, VP Marketing and Sustainability at H2O Innovations and Founder of the Water Positive Think Tank; Antonella Maggioni, CEO of Agrow Analytics and member of the Water Positive Think Tank; and Nicolás Ibieta, CEO of PuntoCero Consultores and member of the Water Positive Think Tank, who moderated the conversation.
The event provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among experts and professionals interested in addressing water and climate change challenges from a business perspective. With a focus on innovative and sustainable solutions, this event is expected to have contributed to promoting responsible and resilient business practices in the face of global water challenges.
